People often ask for a recipe to make a simple wax lip balm, something they can used in the whole family.

so here's a simple one that only takes a few moments to make and will last for up to 1 year, when kept in a cool dark place.

The main component here is beeswax or for a vegan version, use carnauba or candelila wax.

Ingredients:

1 dessertspoon of beeswax, or vegan wax.

1 teaspoon of cocoa butter

1 dessertspoon of coconut oil

1 dessertspoon of shea butter

1 teaspoon of rosehip oil

Melt all ingredients in a Bain Marie or microwave, until ingredients are dissolved. Once cooling takes place, you can add your essential oils. For this quantity 10-15 drops of your favourite EO should be enough.

Frankincense: To help speed up skin repair/renewal.

Lavender for Burns, skin damage and settle nerves.

Geranium: for helping to balance the skin, mood and hormones.

Cypress and grapefruit: water retention and cellulite.

Peppermint: headaches and mucous chesty cough.

Avoid during pregnancy (except mandarin EO)and babies and children avoid the following oils: cypress and peppermint. The other oils may be used but always halve the quantity of EO's and always patch test before using.

Several batches of balm can be made for different ailments.

Happy cooking.

Jean
