Have you ever eaten coconut oil or used it on your body?
If the answer is no, then you don't know what you're missing!
Coconut oil is a saturated oil, but don't let that scare you. Unlike most other saturated oils it is jam packed full of amazing health benefits in the form of Lauric and caprylic acids. These amazing acids are what makes it so unique and beneficial, not only when eaten, but also when used on the skin and hair.
The oil is anti microbial, anti fungal and anti septic and therefor perfect for cleansing the skin and helping to keep bacteria and fungus from attacking the skin.
There are many ways of using wonderful coconut oil on the skin. Here are a few suggestions:
CLEANSER
Melt a small amount onto your face and neck, massaging into the skin, then simply wipe away with a warm flannel.
MOISTURISER
To 1 teaspoon of coconut oil, add 1/2 teaspoon of honey, mix well and apply to face and body.
EXFOLIATING SCRUB
To 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, add 1 teaspoon of brown sugar, mix well and apply to the skin in circular movements, then simply rinse off for the smoothest softest skin.
BABY
Instead of petroleum filled barrier baby creams, use coconut oil, to help calm sooth and heal baby's bottom.
ATHLETES FOOT
Use twice daily mixed with either lavender, patchouli or tea tree essential oil to the affected area and allow the feet to breathe as much as possible.
Good quality virgin coconut oil is available from most good health stores and is priced at around £5 for 500g
